Postcards #13- What's an Author to do?

This writing thing is bizarre. There's so much advice about what a person has to do to succeed. How many posts on what social media platform how many time a day, etc. It's not my strong suit. So, it's very likely that I will never become a blazingly successful writer. I have to own that.
I do have a number of readers who enjoy my work, and I admit I write some things just for them. My fantasy books, The Idlebelle Stories, exist because of a few avid readers. I will keep writing them.
My darker stories have a few fans, but I've published short story collections so far. It will be interesting to see what happens when I publish a novella/novel this fall or winter. It will depend on my publisher, Tiny Worlds Publishing . Details to come.
I've been experimenting with video over on Substack. I'm learning, so my Chicken Story Time videos are wildly unpolished, but they are supposed to be for fun. You can find them at Poison Ivy House. https://poisonivyhouse.substack.com/
I think I will have them on YouTube before long. People seem interested in video format. And I can add book posts and reviews and whatnot as I learn.
Substack's new roll-out of AI features has upset so many people. These decisions never seem to do what they seem to believe they will. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
I'm building a Fourthwall site through which I can sell books and merch. I'm going to integrate all I can: my writing, love for books, my home and my animals. Another learning curve, but I'll figure it out.
Speaking of home, we are moving soon. Starting all over at a new place. There will be lots of things to do there. Lots to write about, and lots to share.
Back to the story,
Lyndsey
