Postcards #11 - Who I Am, What I Write

If you're new to Postcards, welcome! I'm Lyndsey. I grew up in a small town near a big river. The countryside is my heart. Making seemingly ordinary people and places reveal their unexpected qualities, or even their hidden dangers, is my passion. Throw in a creature, spirit or legend, and I can create a story you will want to experience.

I write about incredible situations. Sometimes how a character chooses to handle what is happening, creating their own rules, is the story. Sometimes what they face is the story. We can follow them as they solve, grow through, or even fail what they've been forced into. Some of it may seem relatable on some level, despite the presence of things that go bump in the night.

My stories don't always fit into a tidy niche, though I generally write rural, folk, horror, and fantasy fiction. I've written two short story collections, Well Water and other odd tales and Bluebud: A Collection of Fears, and the first two books of a fantasy series, The Idlebelle Stories. There are more on the way. I'm fond of the spooky. Those types of stories are my favorite. No matter the genre, I write all my stories myself.

I'm in the editing phase of my first horror novel. It's called Cigar Box Saint. I'm working on a second called Judderbones. Updates to come. There will be a third Idlebelle Story book over the winter and another short story collection in the spring. I'm having the time of my life. Come sit a spell.

If you'd like an unusual book experience, you can find me reading my stories to my chickens at https://poisonivyhouse.substack.com/

Back to the story,

Lyndsey
