Letters No. 3

Dear Readers,

Firecracker, our fantastic rooster.

A few months ago I took a break from Substack. I had stretched myself a little too thin and found it impossible to keep up with my blog there and other book projects. A couple of weeks ago I restarted my Substack, Poison Ivy House, but now I'm using it differently. When I'm not writing, one of my responsibilities is to take care of our chicken friends. In an effort to create something fun and silly, I've begun a video series entitled Chicken Story Time. I've made two videos so far. In one I'm reading The Little Red Hen and in the second one I'm reading my story Bluebud, from my second bunch of short stories, Bluebud: A Collection of Fears. I plan to offer those once a week. The weather improved remarkably this week. It won't last, so I've spent the last two days clearing and netting a new paddock for the chickens so I can refresh their old one, re-seed it, and let it rest for a few months. They are very excited with their new run.

I've got solid starts on my two new projects. I'm trying to decide which one to focus on for the next few months and publish. I'll keep you posted.
